Meet the Contractor: Aleks

Sweeten handpicks the best local general contractors for major renovations. The screening process can be a bit technical (licensing, insurance, references, portfolios, experience and beyond…!) but we love getting to know these experts and want to share their stories with you – where they’re from, what they love most about construction, and what renovation challenges they face. Today, meet Aleks!

Where are you from and how long have you been in construction?

I’m from Albania and I’ve been in construction for about 7 years.

How did you get into construction?

I went to school for civil engineering. Then, I got a chance to work in estimating for companies and from that point, did some project management, and I saw myself with my own company.

What do you love most about construction?

Meeting different people. I’ve gotten the chance to meet so many incredible people. Some of them pretty famous or very good at what they do in their professional life. Meeting people and interacting with my team are both very fulfilling.

Who is your ideal client?

My ideal client is someone who knows what he or she wants. Someone that is sophisticated in terms of knowing the materials and ideas they want to achieve, has good communication skills, and is just a fun person to work with.

What do you like about Sweeten? How has it helped with your business?

I love Sweeten – the way they interact with the clients that I work with, the way they follow up, and the way they help us achieve what we want to do, and make sure that the client got the best results. It’s a win-win for all of us.

What do you think is the biggest misconception that homeowners have when starting a renovation project?

Misconception? It’s mostly the budget pricing. Homeowners see what they want to spend, but their budget for what they want is not realistic.

Favorite New York City building or structure?
